UX/UI Design
Or to give it it’s full name, User Experience and User Interface Design. I use the User Centred Design process, which focuses on the user and their needs, goals, pain points and emotions. The UCD process can be used for app and product design as well as websites and we can use as many or as few aspects of the process as needed to get the desired results.
We would look at things like user research, empathy mapping, information architecture and user flows right through to design system creation, looking at colours, typography, imagery usage and more. We would end up with user testing and iteration to ensure we land on the best solution possible.
WordPress Development
So, we have an amazing website designed (whether by me or not) and we need it built… I’ve put together a fool proof process for building fast, secure, search engine optimised websites on WordPress. I work fast, to get you up and running quickly and will take care of everything, from initial set up to launch.
Or perhaps you already have a great website, you just need something adding to it or tweaking on it, or need it secured or optimised. That’s no problem either. I can drop in and help out. I can either use the setup you already have to do the work needed or add on some of my tools to get the job done.
Website Hosting and Maintenance
“Your website is finished… great, you can forget about it now.” Erm… not quite.
First of all, your site needs somewhere nice to live. Good hosting is so important for your site. No one likes a slow site and unfortunately, there are a lot of nasties out there waiting to pounce if you let them. We need to make sure your hosting is secure, fast and simple. I work with my chosen hosting partner to deliver just that. Enhanced security, lightning fast, regular backups, uptime monitoring… I could go on. All at a very reasonable price.
Websites are also needy. As well as a nice place to live they need taking care of. They need regular updates, testing and monitoring to make sure they stay speedy, secure and functioning properly. Google also likes it when you add new stuff to your site. It helps prove you’re an expert in your field. With a maintenance plan we can make sure this is all taken care of and you would get a nice, shiny report at the end of each month to prove it.

Who am I?
👋🏼 I’m Jon Mynette. Musician turned UX/UI designer striving to make digital experiences simpler and more enjoyable.
I’ve gained some amazing experience from my career in music and I try and bring that into my work. Which means I sometimes put a slightly different spin on things than your standard agency or freelancer. But I fully believe that this is a good thing!

For The Literary Studio I designed and built an instant quote and payment form function so that users could fill out all their information, upload necessary documents and pay for the services all in one go. We focused on the user journey but also set out to minimise the admin needed on the company side and make the process as automated as possible.

Hosting
VB & Associates had the full house. UX and UI design, full site build and is now live and kicking on our hosting platform. A great project from start to finish. My goal was to take the new brand guidelines for the company and turn them into a professional, sleek website that portrays the company in the right way but also gets their personality across to the user.

What & how
Over the years I’ve tried and tested many platforms and solutions for my work. I’ve landed on a select few, that in my opinion, are the best around. They offer flexibility, collaboration and future-proofing that are hard to beat!
My toolkit is an evolving thing. I keep up to date with the industry and I’m constantly trying new products, so you may see this change over time. But it takes a lot to make the list.
